Wisdom Says…

10 Do not say, “Why were the old days better than these?” For it is not wise to ask such questions. 11 Wisdom, like an inheritance, is a good thing and benefits those who see the sun. 12 Wisdom is a shelter as money is a shelter, but the advantage of knowledge is this:Wisdom preserves those who have it.  Ecclesiastes 7:10-12

Reflect

I have this unwise habit: I look longingly at the past too often.

I have a quiver full of reasons to look back longingly in thankfulness and awe, sometimes convincing myself that the “old days were better than my current days.”

But… if I spend all my time bathing in the nostalgia of the past, wisdom says, I will miss what God is up to in the present.

Wisdom reminds us that He is here with us, amongst us, alive and breathing. He is working now and holding our hands as we walk with Him into the future of our lives, our families, our church, and our community.

And as we walk into the future, He wants to grant us His wisdom – it is for our benefit. It is our shelter. It is our preservation. And it is His gracious gift to us to help us live lives that are pleasing to Him.

What does wisdom look like for you in this season with your finances? Your work? Your family? Your church commitments? Your schedule? Your hobbies? Think on these things.
