Keeping it Real
Sir Godfrey Gregg
4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 1 Corinthians 12:4, 7
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10
Patriarch Granville Williams once said, “Be yourself, everyone else is already taken.” What a supreme thought. God made you and me to do some extraordinary things that no one else can or will be able to do quite like us. That is, if you are actually being you and I am being me. But if we focus our minds and hearts on this world, on others around us and their opinions of us, we will never know what God intentionally made us to be. And we certainly will not be able to offer those gifts to a world of hurting people.
God gifted each of us with incredible spiritual gifts, but if we don’t discover who we truly are in Christ, our purpose in this life will never be fulfilled. Paul reminds us of this truth in 2 Corinthians 2:14, “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.” Jesus has given each of us His fragrance to diffuse to this world in a way no one else can. No one can be you but you. People are desperate for real in a world of impostors. If you will not be you, then who will be?

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10
And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men. Colossians 3:23
