God is Present in the Moment
Sir Godfrey Gregg
I love the Lord because He hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. 2 Because He bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath! Psalm 116:1-2
God gave me this verse during a difficult season in my life. I was humbled to realize that the God of the universe would bend down His ear to listen to me. That position of stooping reminded me of my role as the People’s Minister. Each day I bend down to listen to the words of of others. I assume this position because it puts me at eye level with my clients. When I look into the eyes of another, he or she can know that I hear, that I understand and that I am present in the moment.
My heart swells with gratitude when I realize that God treats me the same way. I am His child and He bends down to hear my voice. He is never too busy, He is never asleep and He is never unaware of my concerns. He longs for me to trust Him with everything. This verse brought me great comfort during a season of difficulty. It was an important reminder that I was not alone.
God asks us to pursue Him and trust Him with all things. If we seek God, He is ever faithful to be found exactly where we need Him—bending down, eye to eye, listening and present in the moment.
Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:12-13
