The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb,
The leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
The calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
And a little child shall lead them. – Isaiah 11:6

As Christians, we have a lot to look forward to in our future. Now I am not speaking of heaven. It is true that heaven is a glorious place that we should eagerly desire but I am referring to what is to come right here on earth. Jesus Christ will leave heaven someday and return to earth to rule and reign. He sits on the throne of David, the Bible says that His righteousness will fill the entire earth (Isaiah 11:9).

The curse of sin will be lifted from the world and as a result, the entire animal kingdom will become tamed. The wolf and the lamb will lie in peace with one another, the leopard will not attack the goat, the lion will not prey upon the calf but instead will eat straw, the cow and the bear will graze together…and the Bible tells us that a child will play with these animals without fear of being harmed. Children will even put their hands next to the serpent but the snakes will not strike (Isaiah 11:6-8).

These are just a few of the glorious characteristics that will come upon the earth when Jesus Christ comes to rule and reign. No one in their right mind would allow a child today to play with cobras, vipers, lions, and bears. But during the Lord’s reign on earth, children can have their own personal zoo right in their backyards! However, the Lord chooses to set up a new experience or a new world. Just make sure you are entered into His rest and it will be joy unspeakable afterwards.

Are you feeling discouraged and hopeless due to all of the wickedness in the world today? Remember that the day is coming soon that our Lord will “rewind the hands of time”, placing His great creation into the magnificent state prior to the curse of sin. (Isaiah 11:5, 9)
