Day 19: Living as a Sacrifice

Scripture: Romans 12:1
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”

Our ancestors lived sacrificially, often making difficult choices for the sake of faith, family, and community. Their lives were offerings of love, service, and devotion, reflecting God’s mercy and grace. Walking in the light of such a legacy means embracing a life of selfless dedication to God’s purposes.

Living as a sacrifice doesn’t mean suffering unnecessarily but rather surrendering our desires so that God’s will can be done in and through us. Each act of kindness, each moment of discipline, and each choice to serve carries the mark of worship that honours those who paved the way with their faithful hearts.

Consider how your ancestors embodied sacrifice—whether through enduring hardship, working for justice, or nurturing a faith community. Their willingness to give of themselves created a spiritual inheritance for you to steward.

Challenge: Reflect on ways you can offer yourself as a living sacrifice today, serving God and others with humility and joy.

Prayer:
Lord, help me to live sacrificially, honouring the legacy of those who came before me. May my life be holy and pleasing in Your sight, a true act of worship that brings glory to Your name. Empower me to serve faithfully and with a joyful heart. Amen.
