Sir Godfrey Gregg
Grand Commanding Officer
The Mystical Court teaches that we all progress through life in three principal stages, namely our Youth, our adulthood, and our old age. We are taught that each period is special and that we should behave differently in each period of life.
During our youth, we should learn as much as we can. We should try new things and take more risks. We should travel and have many different experiences During this stage of life we are to learn skills that will help us for the rest of our life and we are to discover what we like and what we do not like. We are to learn what our strengths are and what our weaknesses are.
During adulthood, we are to maximize our strengths and minimize our weaknesses, having learned what those strengths and weaknesses are during our youth. We are to apply the lessons we learned during our youth to work that makes our world better. We are to guide the youth who are coming behind us while also taking care of those who have gone before us with great respect.
In, old age ritual tells us to enjoy the blessings of a youth well spent and adulthood lived. We are to give loving, kind, and respectful guidance to those who are younger than us. We should continue to do what we can to improve ourselves and our world while honestly recognizing that age has placed limitations on us and we may not be able to do all of the things that we could when we were younger.
During our lives, we may find ourselves in different; at the same time. For instance, a person in his middle-aged years who starts a new job may find that he is functioning in that new Job as if he were in his youth. Take the lessons The Mystical Court teaches us to apply in our youth and apply them in the new job until you learn it. Be open-minded, try new things, and listen to those who know more than you do. At the same time, that same brother may be in the old age stage in some of his other activities. Perhaps he is a Past Commander of the Court, so in that part of his life, he must apply the lessons of old age to that part of his life while he is applying the lessons of youth to his work life and the lessons of adulthood to his life overall.
In what phase of life are you in now? Are there areas of Your life where you are in different phases? What are the things You are doing right and what are things about your behaviour you could improve to function best in the stage of life you are in?
