SEEKING GOD’S PRESENCE

Day 1: Seeking God’s Presence

“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.” – Psalm 42:1

Welcome to Day 1 of our 21-day journey of prayer and fasting! Today, we begin by seeking God’s presence in our lives. We want to cultivate a deep longing for Him, just like the psalmist expressed in Psalm 42:1.

Why Seek God’s Presence?

In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life. We can become so focused on our daily tasks, responsibilities, and worries that we forget to prioritize the most important thing: our relationship with God.

Seeking God’s presence is essential for several reasons:

  1. Intimacy with God: When we seek God’s presence, we deepen our intimacy with Him. We get to know Him better, and He reveals Himself to us in new and powerful ways.
  2. Guidance and Direction: God’s presence brings guidance and direction. When we seek Him, He shows us the path to take, and we can trust that He will lead us to where we need to be.
  3. Comfort and Peace: In times of trouble or uncertainty, God’s presence brings comfort and peace. He is our rock, our refuge, and our shelter.
  4. Empowerment and Strength: When we seek God’s presence, we receive empowerment and strength. He equips us to face challenges, overcome obstacles, and fulfil our purpose.

How to Seek God’s Presence

So, how do we seek God’s presence? Here are some practical steps to help you get started:

  1. Create a Quiet Space: Find a quiet, comfortable spot where you can sit, pray, and seek God’s presence without distractions.
  2. Set Aside Time: Schedule a specific time each day to seek God’s presence. It could be early in the morning, during your lunch break, or before bed.
  3. Pray and Worship: Start by praying and worshipping God. Use scripture, hymns, or contemporary worship songs to help you focus on Him.
  4. Listen and Wait: After praying and worshipping, take time to listen and wait on God. Be still, and let Him speak to you through His Word, His Spirit, or His creation.
  5. Journal Your Thoughts: Write down your thoughts, feelings, and insights after seeking God’s presence. Reflecting on your experiences will help you grow in your faith and deepen your relationship with God.

Prayer Focus for Day 1

As we seek God’s presence today, let’s pray:

“Dear Heavenly Father, I come before You with a humble heart, seeking Your presence in my life. I long to know You better, to feel Your love and guidance. Show me Your glory, and reveal Yourself to me in new and powerful ways. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
