Your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. 1 CORINTHIANS 2:5 NKJV

Friends disappoint You. Coworkers say untrue things. Strangers gossip. Your sense of trust and self-worth are battered with each betrayal. Yet, this shouldn’t come as a surprise.

with each betrayal. Yet, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. (Romans 3:23), your own deceitful heart (Jeremiah 17:9), and you aren’t even sure what they think about God (Romans 1:25). God calls You to love imperfect people, but Your faith should be placed in the power of God. He doesn’t disappoint, He speaks the truth, and He never gossips.

The wisest of men can’t measure up to the wisdom of God, but you may treat the opinion of other humans as more valuable than God’s instructions for living. Faith is a trust that rests on the certainty that God is the same “yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8 NKJV).

You need friendship with others, so you shouldn’t eliminate their companionship. However, there will be moments when people let you down, or You disappoint them. No human can save you, restore Your past, or ensure Your future. This is God’s domain. This is God’s promise. This is God’s gift.

You should accept by faith what only He can provide.
